Due to the unfortunate events which saw rioting in certain areas of the country, we were asked by a mosque in Cheltenham to provide internal and external security cameras to help protect the building. We also installed a door entry system which consisted of a camera and a call button.
We used 14 x 4MP CCTV cameras to cover the rear, front and inside of the Cheltenham Mosque
The Mosque in Cheltenham had previously had some CCTV cameras but they were old and no longer working and so we recabled the mosque with CAT 6 cable and installed robust, vandal resistant, turret cameras with audio and extra LED lighting.
The LED lights on the CCTV security cameras had two functions:
1. To provide additional lighting to increase the quality of the security camera images and
2. To act as a strobe light to deter anyone caught in the cameras' line of sight.
To activate the strobe light effect, we created an area within the field of view of the camera and anyone entering that area, would trigger the camera to flash the LED lights to act as a warning and to bring to the intruder's attention they were being recorded.
The door entry system comprised a single door entry camera with a call button. When a person presses the call button, it rings at one of two monitors in the mosque. From the monitor, it is possible to see who is at the door, talk to them and let them in by tapping an unlock button which releases the strike lock we installed in the door frame.
When the "unlock" icon is tapped, a voice command tells the visitor that the door is open and they can push open the door to gain entry. The lock remains open for roughly 5 seconds to allow a person to pass through the door, after which the door is locked again.
